My Adventurous Trip to the Great Barrier Reef
If you’re heading to the Great Barrier Reef, prepare yourself for the adventure of a lifetime. I went right after college after saving up for years, and it was completely worth it. Even though I made the journey by myself, I know that a trip to the Great Barrier Reef would be perfect for couples and families too.
To be honest, I had fun just planning the trip! I mapped out the sights I wanted to see, talked to travel agents, booked my flight and hotel, purchased travel insurance, and made sure to pack everything I would need for the perfect vacation. I’m glad that I was so prepared, because it made my vacation full of fun rather than stress.
From the time I landed at the airport everything about my vacation felt like an adventure. After arriving at my hotel i went on one of the glass-bottomed boat tours of the Great Barrier Reef. It was a wonderful way to appreciate beauty of the ocean and all of the wildlife, and it was incredibly relaxing too.
I absolutely recommend that visitors to the Great Barrier Reef to make sure they participate in sustainable tourism. The Great Barrier Reef is an incredible natural wonder that has to be appreciated and protected. Double check your preplanned activities to make sure they are safe and leave as close to zero impact as possible on the environment.
During my stay, my favorite experience was scuba diving with a group of other tourists. The water was amazingly blue and warm. I saw schools of fish, huge structures of coral, turtles, giant clams; I can’t even remember everything. It was a great experience; one I won’t forget for the rest of my life.
I spent my days exploring, meeting new people, enjoying the culture of Australia, and making lasting memories every single moment. I definitely want to go back and try other activities like diving, or maybe stay in a nice resort in the city of Cairns. Maybe I’ll see you around the next time I go to the Great Barrier Reef!
